Option #1 - Bike Shop, Eterna City

[It's been 20 minutes since she entered the shop to try her experiment, and Rey is quickly becoming exasperated.]
Look, I know that the green bike is more appropriate for rough terrain, and that the yellow one is better for the city. I'm not interested in their technical details, I just want to know which one you like better.
[The clerk - who doesn't seem exasperated in the slightest - simply tilts his head at her...before asking which one she prefers.
Rey grips the counter and sighs.]
It doesn't...that's the point, I don't know which one I like better so I want you to choose. Please...
[Another experiment failed; another wasted conversation. What was wrong with the people here?]
Option #2 - Route 204

[If you happen to be making your way from Jubilife City into the wilderness, you might spot a young woman determinedly striding her way along. She's walking with purpose and seems very prepared; she's got a rather fat backpack on, and a sturdy walking stick. She doesn't seem to be using the stick properly, however - rather than using it to aid her climb towards Ravaged Path, she's carrying it at her side.]
Come on. The sooner we get through this section, the sooner we'll reach that town.
[She appears to be talking to the small Pokemon floating around her head - who, at this moment, is far more focused on you.]
Klink?
[It doesn't take long for the girl's attention to also be drawn to you. Turning to face you, she raises a quizzical eyebrow.]
...are you alright?

ahahaha
hahahaha
hahahahahhaha]
Aesthetically, the green one is vastly superior, so I'd recommend it if how it actually works isn't a factor.
no subject
Thank you, but I'm more interested in his opinion.
[This conversation is apparently over - from her perspective at least - and she turns back to the unfortunate clerk and repeats her question.
He then promptly informs her that the green one is superior. For a moment, Rey's face lights up...however...]
...are you only saying that because he said it?
[Thank you, Kayneth]
no subject
[...he can't help but sound faintly amused.]
Well, if you do, you might just deserve a gold medal.
no subject
It hadn't hit Rey the first time the man had spoken, but now...that comment, along with the fact that he'd actually given an opinion....
....
...one more test. Turning away from the clerk, Rey placed her backpack on the ground and held her hand out the odd stranger.]
Give me all your money.
no subject
Have you made a pastime of asking the locals to give you all their money?
no subject
You are different! Sorry about that, I just...well, I needed to be sure. I'm yet to meet anyone on this bizarre planet that actually has some sort of mind of their own.
[It's been so long since she's spoken with someone who might actually be able to hold a conversation that Rey almost can't contain herself. She never thought she'd miss her verbal sparring matches with Unkar Plutt so much.]
Are you from this town, then?
no subject
[Not that that's much different from usual, but it's even worse when no one actually tries to challenge him.]
And no, I'm from a different world entirely. I'm assuming that's the case for you?
no subject
Yes, it is!
[She can't place the attire or the accent of the stranger, but at this point he could work for the First Order and she'd still be willing to spend some time talking - if only to remind herself what it feels like to actually connect with someone.]
I've been trying to find a ship ever since I woke up here, but these 'bikes' are the closest I can get.
[And they aren't exactly going to do the job.]
I'm Rey, by the way. Whereabouts are you from?
no subject
[well, all things considered, they're from different realities, so some stuff is going to be weird.]
Well, anyway, I'm from London, England, which you may or may not be familiar with. I have no idea what world you're from, but it may very well exist there.
no subject
[Well, that's a new one. Maybe it's in the Outer Realm?]
Sorry, no, I can't say I know it. I'm from Jakku, myself, though I'd understand if you haven't heard of it.
[It is pretty much nowhere, after all.]
I take it you've also had trouble with the people here, then?
no subject
[what the fuck are accents, honestly]
I'm not sure if "trouble" is the word I'd use for it, given that they seem to go out of their way to avoid causing it, but. Yes, I get what you're saying.
no subject
[Can't be worse than Jakku, anyway!]
And when you put it that way...I suppose things could be worse. It's just so strange...I'd assume they were droids, but even droids have some semblence of a personality.
[Shaking her head, Rey crosses her arms and looks off to the side, thinking.]
I don't know, I just...feel sad for them.
no subject
[wait. uh. droids.]
But no, I'm fairly certain they're fleshy and not... androids. It's really rather unnerving.
no subject
...only....recently managed it?]
...wait, are you saying that you don't travel between planets back on-sorry, in England?
[.....huh]
Which planet are you from, exactly?
